Thinning hair during menopause can happen for a number of reasons, stress, improper diet and hormonal imbalances can all be a contributing factor. During menopause, if there is excess heat, this rises through the body, drying out the hair follicles. Dryness in the body also naturally starts to increase as we get older. The rich nutrients from the oil get delivered directly into the hair follicles. Massaging the head with the medicated oil relaxes the nervous system, and increases the blood circulation to the scalp. When you increase the blood flow to the scalp you provide the hair follicles with the essential nutrients that they need, the oils deeply penetrate the skin and counteract the dryness. 

Key Ingredients 🍂 Bhringraj literally translates as 'King of the hair' in Sanskrit, it contains the essential minerals of iron, magnesium and potassium. These active compounds are reputed to provide the nourishment that the scalp needs.

Rosemary has gained a lot of interest in the hair care world of late, in recent years studies have found rosemary to be as effective as 'regaine' for hair re-growth. It is a potent anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and it has anti-microbial properties. The carnosic acid in the plant can help to revive damaged nerves and tissues.
 
Nettle is a powerhouse of nutrients, such as vitamin A, vitamin K, vitamin B and vitamin C. It is a potent anti-oxidant, rich in sulfur and silica, commonly used in folk medicine to strengthen the hair and stimulate hair growth.
 
Hibiscus is rich in amino acids that stengthen the hair roots. It has natural anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties which are reputed to soothe the scalp, reducing irritation. It is included in many hair care formulations due to it's cooling properties, it also has a slightly acidic PH which the scalp and hair need to stay strong and healthy.
 
Directions 🍂 Decant a small amount of hair oil into a bowl and place this into some hot water, when the oil is warm you can apply it to the scalp with the glass dropper. Part your hair and apply a few drops at a time, you don't need to saturate the scalp, just apply enough so that it lightly covers your scalp. Massage it in well, leave it on for at least 1-2 hours. You can leave the oil on overnight and wash it out in the morning, just be sure that your head is kept warm by covering it with a scarf.
 
If stress is a factor, regular scalp massage is a wonderful ritual to include in your routine, it relaxes the nervous system and increases the blood flow to the scalp. This should be incorporated into your routine at least 2-3 times per week, and it is best done on hair wash days.
